This light and simple dish is called Tostones (Green Plantain). This is the perfect dish if you want to eat light while waiting for a heavy meal. I’ve had fried plantain before, but they still had some moister to them. These Ritz shaped tostones, however, were made as banana chips; light and crunchy. This dish also comes with a garlic and olive oil sauce, and this sauce is not a bad match with the banana chips, but eating this dish without the sauce is not bad either. Personally, I would just prefer eating the tostones by itself. YUM

This is the lovely Spinach and Smoked Turkey pizza and it’s as good as it looks. I am sure that you have noticed that half of this pizza is without the turkey, but this was due to a few vegetarians sharing this wonderful meal. This pizza is not only unique because of its smoked turkey, but it’s crust is gluten free! YUM!

This dish surely needed something to go with it. What you see to the left is called falafel balls with tahini sauce. There was nothing special about this, at all. It was really dry and crispy and a bit moist in the inside. I can’t even tell you whats inside but it was bland which I guess that’s how its suppose to taste. Trying to eat five of these dry balls with the bland green sauce was not helping my food experience. I can’t really say what was in the tahini sauce except

What can I say, my taste buds actually hit a climax when I ate this dish. I ordered the saumen almondine which  was salmon, organic salad that was sided with bread. Sounds simple? Yes it was, but the taste of the salmon beats any restaurant salmon that I’ve ever tried. What made this dish so amazing was that the salmon was topped with almonds and had this type of glaze on top. I would never have imagined  eating salmon and almond on the same fork, but it was defiantly one of the best dishes I’ve ever ordered. It was so rich and filling that Read the rest of this entry

Meal Made For A King

This dish may not look all that but  it was actually pretty good for a simple looking dish.  This dish was the onglet aux echalotes, a pepper crusted steak served with cognac sauce and mashed potatoes. The steak was extremely tender, so much so that you can use a fork  to cut through it. The sauce that was glazed over the steak was  delicious which I can’t really describe it. The mashed potatoes was also a surprising experience, as it was very fluffy, no clumps, and tasted like it was home-made. Though the portion size was average, it was defiantly a meal for a king, or queen!  I must mention  that the outside and location of this fine restaurant  should have been in a  fancier area like Santana Row. Even the inside was a bit plain for their high quality food. It would be like eating  high-class food at Macdonald’s  ( bit exaggeration but you know what I mean). All in all,   this dish was excellent. YUMM!

Soft Salmon?

Id like to share a secret with you: I don’t like to eat raw fish. Trying  sushi that  is not  a vegetable takes some serious courage for  me to even think about trying it. But  because im on this food adventure, risks have to be taken.  The name of the sushi I ordered was Smoked Salmon which was stuffed with onions and seasoned to perfection with salt. The added onions did make it a bit spicy for some reason, but it was a good thing. The salmon was very soft and Read the rest of this entry

Yes you are seeing right. This sushi  had carrots in it. Pure fresh carrots.   I don’t know what made me want to order it,  but I guess it was the strange name Yamagobo (Burdock). At first, I asked the waitress what it was and she didn’t even know  or how to describe it, even after  she asked the cook. I thought  maybe it was some type of strange leafy vegetable that’s rare. When she gave me a sample, it was nothing but some carrots. Now, Im unsure if she lived under a rock, but I didn’t question  why she didn’t know, as I was too hungry to do any type of thinking on that level.  The carrot sushi was surprisingly Read the rest of this entry

This Taco Needs Lotion

This vegetable taco I ordered needed some serious help. As I opened the foil  to await great satisfaction, the taco looked like it had  gone through Hurricane Katrina. The shell  was flaky and it ripped when I was trying to hold it together. Not to mention it was terribly dry . They could at least warmed the shell  with a bit of oil to give the shell flexibility , somewhat like a taco lotion. One thing I really  dislike and cannot stand  is eating a dry taco shell. But on the  brighter side,   the vegetables that were  inside the taco was good. It consisted of rice, pinto beans, lettuce, salsa, and cheese. The combination was excellent with a hint of  a spice from the salsa. Id have to give this meal a..YUCK, the shell just didn’t do me justice.

This joint was filled with San Jose State Students since it’s located  right near campus.  It had a lively and energetic feel to it with its orange colored wall.  Since I was in the mood  for something simple, I decided to order a cheese and salsa quesadilla… did I mention I ordered a quesadilla? When I got my order, I opened it to find a shocking surprise. What seemed to look like a taco was actually my dinky little quesadilla. Not only did it look like a taco, the shell was cooked hard like  a taco too. Could  I have gotten the wrong order? Chicken Pad Thai equals spicy awesomeness.  The presentation of the meal  was presented on a big plate which got me really excited. Big plate means more food!this dish was mainly made up of chicken and noodles with cool stuff on the side like lime and shredded cabbage. They also added a surprise underneath the noodles which was crunched up peanuts.  I know it may sound a little off to add such an ingredient but it actually worked well with this dish. As I squeezed the lime juice on the Pad Thai, my mouth began to water  and it pretty much took over my senses. My fist bite was great and I knew I made the right selection, YUM.
